My child has been blind in his left eye since birth. He only has one eye, and his right eye has been defective since birth. For this reason, we were followed up at Adana Training and Research Hospital. Later, they said there was a tear in his eye, and they referred us to Beyoğlu Eye Hospital. I went there, and they told me there was a tear there too, and that even with surgery, his vision wouldn't be restored. Then, as parents, we started doing research. The results for retinal diseases always pointed to Dr. Pekkan. I found Dr. Peykan and reached out to him on Instagram, and thankfully, he responded to me. Beyoğlu Eye is a large center. What they said there is definitely true. I don't think I would say anything different. He told me that if you're going to be seen, don't come with high hopes. As a father, I needed a little hope, and without losing hope, I took my child for an examination. After the examination, he told us that he had cataracts in his eye and couldn't see the back of his eye clearly. However, according to his examination, examination, and experience, there was no tear in his eye and that surgery could provide significant improvement. We were so happy that our only hope was Dr. Peykan and the surgery he would perform. He said the exact opposite of what other doctors had said and surprised us very much. Unlike eye centers and doctors who said there was nothing to do, it was unbelievable to hear such a thing. However, when we reviewed our doctor's past successes, we believed him and handed our child over to him. My child, who had only one eye, miraculously began to see again after the surgery and returned to life like his peers. Dr. Peykan gave us one eye and one life. He had the courage to operate on a child with only one eye and saved both our daughter and us. We thank him very much. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻. May God be pleased with him.
Dear teacher, son of Peykan Türkçü, performed eye surgery on my daughter and thankfully, my daughter's eyes got better, there is no strabismus or squint anymore. Today, he made me give up my glasses. I would also like to thank the staff working with him, teacher. It is a blessing for us to be in Antep.
On July 21, 2025, around 6:30-7:00 PM, a foreign object entered my brother's eye while hoeing. After experiencing bleeding and vision loss, we went to the Emergency Medicine Department of ŞANLIURFA MEHMET AKIF İNAN TRAINING AND RESEARCH HOSPITAL at 7:22 PM. Op. Dr. F. Ç. stated that there was heavy bleeding in the eye and that he could not see the foreign object. After a tetanus shot, he referred us to Gaziantep University Hospital.
That same day, we went to GAZİANTEP UNIVERSITY ŞAHİNBEY HOSPITAL, but we were denied admission because the CT scanner was faulty. Consequently, we went to the Emergency Medicine Department of GAZİANTEP CITY HOSPITAL at 11:06 PM. At 11:28 PM, Dr. K. K. examined the eye and stated that there was a tear, but that it was not possible to see whether the object had reached the retina. He explained that he needed surgery, but that he could only repair the tear and could not perform retinal surgery. He said it would be better if we operated at the university hospital, and referred us back there.
We went back to Gaziantep University Şahinbey Hospital, Emergency Medicine Clinic. The residents there said there was no abnormality in my brother's eye and that they couldn't see a tear. They didn't even admit the patient to hospital in the middle of the night. The residents, in particular, were extremely dismissive and unprofessional, treating the patient poorly. The patient needed a CT scan, but they refused to do so. We insisted on having one, and it turned out there was a foreign object in the eye, even lodged in the retina. They then agreed that surgery was necessary. However, our confidence had been completely shaken.
We requested that Prof. Dr. O. S. perform surgery at Gaziantep University Şahinbey Hospital. However, despite the urgency of the situation, no assistance was provided. The assistants told us they would operate first thing in the morning, and Prof. Dr. O.S. would examine the retina in the afternoon. In such a serious situation, they were practically playing with a vital organ like the eye. One of the assistants said, "We'll operate, and the second surgery will be in the afternoon." We refused to have him anesthetized twice. Furthermore, after saying there was no tear all night, the sudden announcement that there was a tear completely destroyed our confidence. One of the assistants arrived in the early morning and said, "He's already lost his eye." At this, we hurriedly left the hospital.
We contacted Prof. Dr. PEYKAN TÜRKÇÜOĞLU, known for his successful retinal surgeries, at GAZİANTEP PRIVATE GÖZ NURU EYE HOSPITAL. He admitted us without an appointment. He started the procedure on my brother E.E., identified the foreign body in his eye, and advised him that surgery was necessary quickly. The doctor's approach to the patient, his effective communication, and his morale and motivational support were truly admirable. He performed the surgery the same day. He explained everything clearly to us beforehand, stating that the surgery was critical but that he would do his best.
Thankfully, Prof. Dr. PEYKAN TÜRKÇÜOĞLU successfully completed the surgery. He removed the object from his eye and repaired the portion embedded in the retina with laser. A month has passed since the surgery. My brother is currently recovering; his vision is gradually improving as his injury heals. It is a great opportunity to have such an experienced and successful surgeon in the retina and ophthalmology field in Gaziantep. We would like to thank Prof. Dr. PEYKAN TÜRKÇÜOĞLU and his entire team.
