I recently had a mini bypass surgery here and couldn't be more pleased with the experience. From the very beginning, communication was great, everything was clearly explained and I always felt informed and reassured. The nurses were truly amazing kind, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. My surgeon was incredibly professional, calm, and made me feel completely confident in the procedure. On top of all that, the facility offers a lovely view of the sea, which made recovery feel a little more peaceful. Thank you to the entire team for such wonderful care!
Awful from start to finish. Was put in the wrong transfer at airport by someone who met us that couldn’t speak English, spent over 3 hours in horrendous Instanbul traffic, got to the hospital 2 hours late so the only bed available was on the maternity ward at 11.30pm, no sleep at all all night, no advice about my regular medication or food, despite me asking. Other patients upstairs recovering from surgery were left without pain relief, ignored by nurses this was at Biruni hospital. No water given to patients as “they hadn’t had their delivery and had run out of bottled water” just dreadful. I cancelled my surgery 3 hours before it was due as I simply didn’t want to take the risk of being left in pain without basic care. I’m sure the surgeons are fine but the aftercare is way below par with basic BP and temperature checks not being done, let alone pain relief being given. Also I was kicked out of support chats and blocked after sharing my experience as Booking surgery clearly don’t want the truth to be told or bad reviews being given. I am still going for surgery in Turkey on February but wouldn’t go anywhere near Booking Surgery again as it’s clearly just a money making machine. Buyer beware !
My Experience with Temporal & Midface Lift Surgery in Turkey
🌟 Pros
• The booking team were very supportive and checked in on me regularly before surgery.
• Whenever I felt anxious, they were always there to answer my questions.
• I was allocated to Dr. Emre Kocman, who reassured me that at 31, I didn’t need a deep plane lift — only a temporal and midface lift.
⚖️ Mixed (Pro & Con)
• I went alone for this surgery, and I regret that decision. Having someone with you is so important for both emotional support and protection.
❌ Cons & Issues
• Lack of explanation: The procedure itself wasn’t clearly explained to me. I showed reference pictures of what I wanted (a snatched jawline, no jowls), but I didn’t get feedback or a clear plan. In the end, he didn’t cut my face — just made small cuts in my hairline to perform the lift. This was never explained properly, and I only understood afterwards.
• Paperwork: When I arrived in Turkey, I was rushed to sign lots of documents straight away. Although they were in English, I found it very difficult to understand them because of my learning difficulties. I felt anxious and vulnerable, and I wasn’t given copies to take away.
• Payments before doctor consultation: I had to pay before seeing the doctor or confirming the details. This felt wrong, but I was alone and felt pressured.
• Unequal treatment: In hospital, I noticed staff were kinder to white patients but dismissive toward patients of colour. As a solo woman of colour, this left me isolated and depressed.
• Unexpected side effects: Since the surgery, my body has changed dramatically — I’ve gained significant weight and my stomach feels swollen and stiff, despite working out. When I asked the doctor about it, he said he didn’t know. This left me feeling blamed and dismissed.
• Lack of transparency: I requested access to surgery room footage, but was refused. I feel patients should have the right to know exactly what was done to their body.
✅ Suggested Improvements
• Patients should receive all paperwork (with translations if needed) before travelling, so they can review at home before signing.
• No payments should be taken until after a full consultation with the surgeon.
• Patients should have the option to bring a companion into all stages, even pre-surgery preparation, for support.
• Clinics should explain all potential side effects and provide a complete record of medication, tests, and scans.
• A proper follow-up plan should be in place for after patients return home.
📌 My Final Thoughts
Would I recommend this place? Yes, but only with caution. There is room for improvement, and patients must protect themselves by:
• Never travelling alone
• Asking for all documents and medical records in advance
• Refusing to pay until after seeing the doctor
• Asking for thorough health checks and explanations of all risks
This was a difficult journey for me, both physically and emotionally. I want others to learn from my mistakes, protect themselves better, and go in feeling informed and supported.
