Posting 2 YEARS POST SURGERY with all facts: my nose is now wider, and I CAN NOT BREATHE AT ALL. I can only breathe through my mouth, which makes me feel suffocated during walking, eating, sleeping, it also causes dry mouth, dental issues, loss of smell, and constant nasal drip. I don't write reviews due to privacy concern but I post this because I made my decision purely based on premature, impulsive, and most likely FAKE REVIEWS. My last reviews were deleted!
Dr. Serhan leads a STRONG SALES & MARKETING + PHOTOGRAPHY TEAM that creates impressive before-and-after visuals through lenses and angles. They create trust and emotional bound by acting as your true companion and PROMISSES, PRE-MATURE VIDEOS of selected patients, and carefully listen and address patient concerns to sell their packages without providing the true high quality patient care or taking any responsibility. I was initially drawn to his care for ENT, but now I’m left with a NON-FUNCTIONAL NOSE and I found out that their services WERE NOT AS PROMISSED AFTER ARRIVAL.
Post surgery exam shows that Dr. Serhan REMOVED AND REPLACED ALL OF MY NATURAL CARTILAGE WITH ARTIFICIAL & DONOR CARTILAGE which it is now COLLAPSING and harder for revision. The side view was initially ok but it is deforming. The front view nose tip is flat and wider, the nostrils are uneven, and airflow is significantly blocked airflow.
Dr. Serhan KEPT PROMISSING that the desired outcome (breathing and better shape) will appear once the inflammation subsided up to one year. Your nose will not change noticeably after inflammation is gone. Eventually, he blamed the poor result on a pre-surgery nasal deviation, which is false and should have been corrected during surgery, and on thick skin and ultimately post-operative care.
I am in my 30, healthy and never had any nasal, facial or any surgery. No breathing issue. I consulted in person with many surgeons in Beverly Hills, all of whom confirmed of no structural issues or no concerns about thick skin only recommended minor cartilage adjustment. I chose Dr. Serhan because of lower cost and concern for ENT.
I was under anesthesia for OVER 2.5 HOUR mostly for photoshoots, later had significant bruises and minimal changes. The promotional videos shared immediately after surgery do not show bruising which appear a couple of days later. Dr. Serhan showed me UN-POSTED PHOTOS OF HIS PAST PATIENTS with sever bruises and final results that looked concerning after my surgery was over.
The offsite nurse was unskilled and couldn’t communicate. She scratched the inside of my eye while applying post-surgery cream. I was in severe pain, fearing vision loss, and had to go to the emergency room at my own expense because Dr. Serhan was UNAVAILABLE FOR EVEN A PHONE CALL for next 3 DAYS!
Price: His pricing is lower than other doctors because many things aren’t as promised, you only find out after arrival. The hotel branch outside Taksim with lower quality and fewer amenities. Traffic to and within Taksim is heavy from 7am-10pm; it took us at least 3 hours each way. Their transportation beside arrival and surgery days were not available. We SPENT ALOT ON TAXI especially due to hotel location. They took no responsibility than saying we are so sorry!
Hotel quality was poor and not as promised, located outside Taksim (+3hr commute). Room was extremely small, dark, with tiny window like a prison cells which is extremely hard to walk and navigate through after surgery. Room had heating and hot water issues in December. Staff only replied “Normal” and refused to fix the issue or change the room.
Hospital: The hospital was okay but small (not sure if it has emergency equipment), and nurses were kind. But communication was impossible without a translator. no one even doctor do not understand English. Wait times were extremely long, at least 2-4 hours, even with appointments. Dr is not available beside the surgery day and final exam.
With any surgery it is very scary to put your life in someones hands. However, from the moment I discovered Dr Serhan Derin I felt comfortable with my decision to go ahead and get a rhinoplasty. I spoke with a medical coordinator called Elif and she answered all my questions and consistently checked up on me. I reached out in July and my surgery was In March the following year. To have someone answer all your questions during that huge time gap was so relieving.
From the moment I arrived in Istanbul the service was 10/10. From the hotel, to the transfers to the care at the hospital! The staff were so attentive and friendly. The clinic itself is absolutely beautiful and the nurses were so caring. John the translator was also lovely and made me feel at ease. it was very easy talking to him, it felt like talking to a friend. Dr Serhan Derin himself was lovely and listened attentively to how I wanted my nose. I showed him pictures and he actually suggested a certain nose would look better on me because of the shape of my forehead and chin. This made me feel at ease as he was also thinking about the proportions in my face. He also discussed removing some muscles away so when I smile my tip doesn't droop and nostrils don't flare, I had no clue this could be done! But most importantly he fixed my breathing which has made my life so much easier.
My nose had been one of the biggest insecurities in my life and now that is no more!! I am 2 weeks post-op and could not be happier with my results. It can be scary going ahead with a surgery but Dr Serhan Derin & Doku Medical are so professional and attentive. Thank you again, you've made me a very happy man.

Dr. Serhan Derin and his team were understanding and made me feel comfortable. I had my surgery on 8/01/25 with no pain or discomfort, and I'm very happy with my result.
